We started back about ten years ago, soon after the banking crisis when money was a bit tight. We decided that a good way to help our business finance was for myself and partner to set up a SASS and to give ourselves and our company a loan from there. So Hartsfield brought together all the existing pensions that we had between us and put it all into one big pot and then gave some of that to the company. Which the company paid back, I’m pleased to say. The pension has grown over the years and it’s in a very good state now and I hope it will be going forwards.

I’m very pleased to have retired really. It gives me a lot of time to do the things I want to do that I haven’t been able to do. It gives me time to spend with the family, with the kids and especially the grandkids. I’ve got four grandchildren, and I’ve started a private pension for each of those. Three of them are up and running now, the fourth one I’ve only just started because she’s only six months old. I’m just putting money in on an irregular basis in the hope that when they get old enough they can retire earlier than they would do on whatever they’ve got themselves. I don’t think they’ll ever retire on what I’m putting in there, but hopefully, it’ll give them a few more years of retirement to enjoy themselves. It feels good to put money into the grandkids’ pensions because I can’t see state pensions lasting until they’re old enough to actually retire. So hopefully the money I’m putting in will give them the option to retire sooner than they would do just with their own pension that they’ve invested themselves.

I would recommend Hartsfield. I think they’ve done a really good job on a number of things that they’ve done for me and the company. It’s been a really good relationship.
