Simon transitioned into the financial planning industry in 2023, having spent 20 years in mobile telecommunications sector.  Since his career change, Simon has gained valuable experience in supporting advisers with back-office operations, executing investment transactions, researching client’s investments, personal pensions and protection policies to ensure a thorough understanding of their current financial situation. 

In 2025, Simon successfully completed the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and intends to further advance his professional qualifications.

Diploma in Financial Planning – DipPFS

The level 4 Diploma demonstrates core technical understanding across a broad range of key financial planning areas.

Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics (R01)

Assesses a knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation, legislation and the Code of Ethics.

Investment Principles (R02)

Assesses a knowledge and understanding of investment products and the application of the investment advice process.

Personal Taxation (R03)

Assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK taxation system, and the ability to analyse the taxation treatment of individuals and trusts during the investment advice process.

Pensions and Retirement Planning (R04)

Assesses a knowledge and understanding of an ability to analyse pension and retirement planning issues.

Financial Protection (R05)

Assesses a knowledge and understanding of an ability to analyse financial protection planning issues.

Financial Planning Practice (R06)

Assesses advisers financial planning capabilities. Tests the practical application of technical knowledge and planning skills already gained, supporting the provision of competent and appropriate advice.

As a Paraplanner, my role involves researching client policies, providing comparisons, and assisting in the development of recommendations to support clients in making informed decisions. I am committed to achieving positive outcomes for our clients, prioritising their financial well-being and satisfaction.

What matters most to Simon outside of work?

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my son, engaging in activities such as fishing, camping, and supporting Forest Green Rovers. I am also passionate about music and enjoy playing the guitar, with aspirations to join a band and perform live again in the near future.
